Georgian Communist Leader Blasts "Masons"

Vingelm Makharadze, a leading figure within the United Communist Party of Georgia, used coded antisemitic language in a statement on the meaning of World War II for Georgia, according to a May 6, 2001 report by the Praym-Nyus agency in Tbilisi. Mr. Makharadze is quoted as saying that those who believe that fighting on the side of the USSR against Germany was not in the interests of Georgia are "Masons"- a commonly used code word for Jew.
