Estonia's security police searched the apartments of ten Estonian and Finnish citizens in the course of an investigation into neo-Nazi activity, according to a June 13, 2007 report by the Baltic News Agency. Risto Teinonen, a citizen of Finland, told the news service that police confiscated three computers and several books and flags from his office on Tuesday. Prosecutors announced that the searches targeted members of an organization "aimed against the constitutional structure of Estonia" and that Mr. Teinonen founded an organization in 2006 that endangered the safety of Jews and other ethnic minorities and "incited ethnic hatred"--a crime punishable under Estonian law. Recruits were taken to military-style training camps where they were inculcated with the neo-Nazis' ideology and referred to as members of the SA (the Nazi stormtroopers). Mr. Teinonen came to the attention of security police when he attended an April 20, 2006 celebration of Adolf Hitler's birthday. Two other Finns who were seen at the event were subsequently barred from entering Estonia.
