Neo-Nazis Attack French Student in Tartu

(September 19, 2007)

A group of neo-Nazis in Tartu, Estonia threw rocks at a dark-skinned French student last week, according to a September 18, 2007 report by the Russian Jewish web site Jewish.ru. The student, unidentified in the report, has not pressed charges. The head of a foreign student association in Tartu, a city boasting several universities, is quoted in the report as saying that neo-Nazi violence against foreign students in Tartu is a problem. However, a local police official counters that there have been only two to four incidents of "robbery, fights, or insults" directed against foreign students in the past two years.
