A hotline set up by Russia's largest Jewish organization for Jews suffering from antisemitism is yielding results, according to an October 6, 2008 report by the web site Jewish.ru. The report briefly listed some of the typical calls the hotline received over the course of September, including a teacher forced out of her job because she didn't want to teach on Saturdays (the Jewish sabbath), a young man assaulted by antisemitic police officers, various problems with Jew-hating neighbors in Russia's notoriously overcrowded apartment blocks, and a Jewish man who wanted to find a way to deal with antisemitic in-laws. According to the report, "Everybody who called was given aid in understanding their legal rights and in writing appeals to state agencies."
