By contributing to UCSJ, you help us fight antisemitism and give new life to the Jews of the former Soviet Union (FSU)!
Information about some of UCSJ's current projects:
- In the Spring of 2003, UCSJ was awarded a 1.3 million euro grant by the European Commission of the European Union to mount a 3-year "Campaign to combat racism, xenophobia and religious persecution in the multi-ethnic Russian Federation", including antisemitism and Islamophobia. The grant, which is scheduled to begin in November, calls for UCSJ to raise 20% in matching funds. We urgently need your assistance in order to uphold our participation in this grant.
- Our unique monitoring-based advocacy network documents and publicly exposes antisemitic incidents everywhere across the FSU, and provides legal and advocacy assistance to Jews in need. We negotiate with local and national FSU officals and work closely with human rights organizations to curb antisemitic abuses.
- Our distinctive Yad L'Yad ("Hand to Hand") program provides personalized aid to Jews in the former Soviet Union, from infants to the impoverished elderly, through partnerships with more than 100 Jewish organizations across the FSU. UCSJ's member councils in the United States donate food, clothing, medicine, doctor's visits, Jewish educational materials and religious objects - even including Torah scrolls - to Jews in need. (Find out how to get your community involved in Yad L'Yad.)
Please donate today! Your contribution will help us to continue this vital work and is also tax deductable, as we are a 501(c)3 tax-exempt charitable organization.
