Two Africans were stabbed in Kiev in recent weeks. Viktor Bendu Charles, a refugee from Sierra Leone, was buried on April 4, according to an article the next day in the local newspaper "Segodnya." Two suspects, one of whom has already confessed to being a neo-Nazi, are under arrest in connection with the March 8 killing. The other suspect was allegedly motivated by a desire for revenge against black people after claiming that he was beaten up by an African (not the victim). The same article reported the March 29 non-fatal stabbing of a Nigerian named Henry Aseymota. Police so far maintain that the suspects--a high school and a university student--have no connections to extremist groups. The attack took place on a street car in front of numerous witnesses; the victim was stabbed in the stomach and was subsequently hospitalized.
