Ukrainian Security Police Detain Suspect in Attack on Turkmen in Kiev

SBU officials detained a suspect in a February 19 attack on a citizen of Turkmenistan in Kiev, according to an April 10, 2008 report posted on the "Coalition Against Hate" blog. The suspect faces "hooliganism" charges and was released after signing a pledge not to leave the city. There is no information in the report indicating that other suspects in the attack, which resulted in the victim being hospitalized, have yet been detained. Vasily Gritsak, head of Kiev's SBU, announced that the SBU is conducting a review of several cases involving assaults on foreigners.
