A small Islamic political party held an anti-Israel demonstration outside the Israeli Embassy in the capital of the former Soviet republic of Azerbaijan. Police prevented the 30 to 40 protesters from approaching the embassy in Baku and from burning a mock Israeli flag. The April 11 demonstration, which was approved in advance by city officials, was held to protest Israelīs military incursion in the West Bank.
