(June 6, 2008)

Three residents of Voronezh, Russia were convicted of "hooliganism" for attacking an Iraqi foreign student, according to a June 5, 2008 report by the Sova Information-Analytical Center. The attack took place on January 31 and was discovered by Sova on the web site of the regional prosecutor's office. On June 3, the three defendants were sentenced to community service. Voronezh is infamously dangerous for dark-skinned foreign students, some of whom have been killed in recent years.
