The coming elections, economic and other social problems are a perfect opportunity for different types of politicians to promote themselves. So it is no surprise that the National Socialists under the leadership of Mindaugas Murza have become particularly active, organizing meetings one after another not only in Siauliai but also in Kaunas, where they were greeted by the city authorities.
What do people think of Mindaugas Murza's ideas? Do they approve of his actions? How should politicians, according to citizens' opinion, deal with the current situation? Our weekly newspaper Spinter commissioned a survey, based on 500 people 16 years or older in the 5 major cities of Lithuania.
According to the survey, the majority of respondents do not approve of Mindaugas Murza's ideas, but they are mostly supported by citizens of Siauliai and Kaunas. People also think that politicians should be more active in taking preventive measures in negotiating with supporters of Mindaugas Murza. It seems that people simply need some information to judge about the nationalists in order to form their own opinion.
The survey showed that the opinion of citizens of Siauliai and Kaunas differs most of all. Contrary to the opinion of citizens of the other major cities, most citizens of Siauliai and Kaunas approve of Vytautas Sustauskas (the mayor of Kaunas) and Vida Stasiunaite, who took part in Mindaugas Murza's meetings.
