The September 23, 2000 issue of the Armenian newspaper Ayots Ashkar published an article entitled entitled "The Armenian factor is becoming powerful" by Gevorg Khudinyan.
The article, which detailed lobbying efforts in the US by the Armenian and Turkish governments, included the following "analysis" of the Monica Lewinsky scandal:
"It is known that following US pressure on Israel the most powerful Jewish lobby used the Monica Lewinsky's case as a means of blackmail. Today the Turkish lobby is trying to find its own Monica Lewinsky and blackmail American economic circles or political leadership."
