Eleven Year Old Suspected of Arson Attack on Kiev Jewish School

(December 28, 2007)

On November 2, 2007 police in Kiev identified an 11-year-old boy as a suspect in an October 31, 2007 arson attack on the Simcha Jewish school, according to a monthly report on hate crimes filed today by UCSJ's Kiev monitor Vyacheslav Likhachyov. The school was targeted in recent months by rock throwing youths; a week before the arson someone wrapped the message "Death to the Jews!" around a rock before throwing it through a window. It is not known what charges, if any, were filed against the boy, whose youth makes any criminal prosecution extremely unlikely.
